This disc exists in two versions. Both couple the Saint-Saëns Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op. 22 and Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 2 in G major, Op. 44. The First CD Version begins with the Tchaikovsky Concerto, followed by the Saint-Saëns Concerto, but with a major editing error: the entire Saint-Saëns concerto plays back in F-sharp minor instead of G minor. The second release of this CD reverses the order of the Concertos and no longer has the pitch error.

On both versions of this CD, the Saint-Saëns Concerto is taken from Jean-Philippe Collard’s EMI recording. However, the Tchaikovsky concerto differs between the two releases. In the First CD Version, Michael Boriskin’s Newport Classics recording is used for the first and last movements, while the slow movement remains unidentified. The Second CD Version uses Boriskin for all three movements. In the First CD Version, the finale of the Tchaikovsky concerto is sped up by 6.67%.
